Description

Coed-uchaf is a long single-storey building, built in the 18th century, with a two-storey gabled section attached at right angles to the north, creating a basic T-plan layout. The earlier part of the building features irregularly coursed rubblestone, while a 19th-century addition is constructed from roughcast stone or brick, all topped with slate roofs.

On the front (east) side of the single-storey section, there is a large integral end stack on the left with a small fireplace window. To the right, a late 20th-century gabled stone porch has a doorway on its right return, accompanied by a small 2-light 12-paned window and two rooflights. A small outbuilding is attached to the left gable end, connected by a stone arch. The rear wall has windows positioned to the left, center, and right, with a small infilled window between the left and center windows.

The 19th-century addition includes a catslide lean-to porch on the left return, featuring an outer open arch and an inner boarded door. The first floor has 4-paned sash windows, including a staircase window on the east gable end. The west gable end features a 6-paned sash window on the first floor and two 4-paned top-hung windows on the ground floor, which have replaced earlier sashes. A prominent central brown brick ridge stack is also present.

Inside the 19th-century section, there is a late Victorian staircase with chamfered square newels and ball finials. Access to the earlier part was not possible at the time of the survey, but it is reported to have an open fireplace with a massive chamfered curved timber lintel and an internal shutter to a small inglenook window, along with exposed rough purlins and a central roof truss.
