Description

Castle Green is a two-storey building with painted roughcast walls and a steeply pitched hipped slate roof featuring overhanging eaves and a simple hanging fret fascia. It has tall deep rubble end chimney stacks and a three-bay front with 4-pane horned sash windows that have slate sills. There is a late 19th-century open timber porch at the center, adorned with trellis-work and altered sides, leading to a four-panel front door with a Y-tracery fanlight.

On the right end, there are narrow 4-pane sash windows on each floor, while the first floor of the left side mirrors this design. The rear of the building has 12-pane horned sash windows, which are narrower and lower in the center, providing light to the stairwell. A large central half-glazed porch has been added, featuring a 4-panel half-glazed inner door.

Attached at a right angle to the northwest corner of the house is a lower three-bay rear service wing constructed of rubble with a slate roof. This wing has two upper windows reaching the eaves, with a 20th-century window on the right and a 6/3-pane hornless sash on the left. There is a boarded door to the right and a 12-pane hornless sash window to the left, along with another doorway to the left that has a boarded stable-type door, all featuring cambered stone voussoired heads. Each end of the wing has a small ground floor 9-pane casement window, and there is a later rear outshut to the wing. A porch is located in the angle between the wing and the front of the house, which has a boarded door.

Inside, the ground floor features four-panel doors and a dog-leg stick baluster stair with turned newels and an open string.
