Description

The Barn Range at Blaenpant Farm is a Grade II listed building constructed from rubble stone, featuring corrugated iron and slate roofs. It consists of three sections with straight joints: a barn at the upper end, a short section in the center, and a long lofted range to the right. The barn has a corrugated iron roof and two opposed entries under timber lintels, framed by short spur walls that may have supported removed gables. There are two vent loops on each side of the entry.

The lower two sections have a continuous slate roof that is lower pitched than that of the barn, with straight joints in the walls between each section. The center section is plain, featuring a west-facing door with a timber lintel. The lower range serves as a lofted stable and cart shed, with three first-floor cambered-headed windows that have stone voussoirs and a slate shelf over the ground floor. The stable on the left has a cambered-headed window, a door, and another window, followed by two large elliptical arched cart entries. The southern end includes a small loft window with a timber lintel.

The rear of the building is largely obscured by a 20th-century lean-to but features a row of brick dove-holes interrupted by the voussoirs of a loft window, a door, and a window. The stable's rear has three windows on the ground floor to the right, all with timber lintels. The middle section includes a door to the left and a broad window in the center with stone voussoirs, along with a loft window to the right. The barn's rear has a main door with a timber lintel, a loop, and a window to the left, and two loops to the right.

Inside, the barn contains six collar trusses, three of which have tie-beams. The south wall features two blocked doors, one with stone voussoirs and the other with a timber lintel. The other two sections of the building are also lofted.
