Barn and Shoppon at New Inn Farm

The building is a barn with a shippon at New Inn Farm, dated 1723, as indicated by a timber post in the main barn. The barn is constructed from roughly worked rubble, limewashed, and topped with corrugated iron roofs. The main barn features narrow opposed entrances at the angle with the shippon and retains the remains of a timber framed partition that separates this bay from the storage area in the upper part of the barn. The roof trusses have steeply curved principals, and a similar truss can be found in the shippon, which was likely built at the same time. The third bay, which faces the street, includes a doorway in the gable, and its interior has plastered walls and a blocked corner fireplace. The shippon has a series of doors and windows along the long side facing the house, with narrow vents in the upper storey. The stable extension, which is a single bay alongside the shippon, features a doorway and an external staircase leading to a loft door.
