Description
Tyn-y-Wern is a 2-storey house with a small stable or shippon and a pigsty nearby. The building is constructed of rough rubble, mostly rendered, and has slate roofs. It is positioned parallel to the slope, with its main elevation facing down the slope. The house features a projecting gabled lateral stack, with a plank doorway located to one side. There are 2-light casement windows on each floor, situated on the far side of the stack. A brick stack is located on the north gable end.
To the left of the house, there is a later extension that is less deep, which has its own separate doorway and a single first-floor window. This extension also has a stone stack in its gable end. The west elevation of the house has a small 2-light casement window, but this side is mostly occupied by a later lean-to.
Adjoining the house to the north is a lower outbuilding that features a doorway and a single window on its east elevation. The stable or shippon forms the rear wing of this outbuilding, which has a single doorway in its north-facing wall and narrow vents, along with an upper window in the gable end. Additionally, there is a small lean-to pigsty and pen against the north gable of the outbuilding.
