Description
1874 school (i.e. post-1872 Education Act) plus integral schoolhouse; now converted to one house. Unusually, the design is cottage-like on its main (SE) front, single-storeyed and symmetrical (centre porch, 3-light outer windows; end stacks); upper level windows in gable heads. Porch gave access to house (rooms to left; upper room(s) lit by 2 gablehead lights; a rear wall-head gable also contains one window); schoolroom (occupying right-hand ? i.e. north -part of building) accessed from near-full-width lean-to on gable, 3-light window above (topped by ventilator roundel) and to rear. upvc windows. Rubble-built with ashlar detailing (currently heavily-pointed in cement), rear wall harled; slate roof with deep eaves. Enclosed by rubble-built playground (now, garden) walls.
