Description
These stables and carriage house, dating to 1870 and designed by Alexander Ross, form a small U-shaped range facing South. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled granite dressings. The central section originally housed a carriage house, now used as twin garages, flanked by stables, one of which has been converted into a dwelling. The South gables feature blind quartrefoil oculi windows. A bellcote is centrally positioned on the ridge, topped with a small pyramidal slate roof and a cast-iron weathervane. A loft dormer is present at the East wallhead. Most windows have two panes of glass; a modern dormer with multi-pane casements is found on the East wing. The building has crowstepped gables, coped ridge and end stacks, and slate roofs.
