Description
The Bridge of Etteridge, also known as Crubenbeg Bridge, is a single-span rubble bridge likely constructed around 1730, probably under the direction of General Wade. It crosses the River Truim, which forms the boundary with Laggan Parish. The bridge features a small flood arch on the southern bank. The dressed rubble arch rings spring from natural rock abutments. A substantial triangular rubble cut-water is located on the northern (upstream) side, and a low, roughly dressed rubble parapet runs along the bridge. Later cast-iron stays have been added. The main arch has an approximate span of 30 feet. The bridge likely formed part of the probable military road route between Ruthven and Catlodge. It was extensively repaired in 1975.
