Description

Mostly later 19th century, some alterations and additions.

School with 2-storey schoolhouse adjoining to south. Stugged

and squared rubble with ashlar dressings, advanced and

recessed gabled bays with saw-toothed skews.

School: west elevation: windows mostly hood-moulded; some depressed-arched lights. 2 advanced low gabled former

porches, (belfry over that to right) linked by modern porch,

2 wall-head dormers behind on original wall-head; wide

full-height outer gables, that to left advanced with large

mullioned and transomed window (similar window in north

gable) that to left forms part of house, and is recessed.

Mostly plate glass glazing. Axial ventilators.

House: south elevation: 3 bays, bipartites in outer bays,

right bay boldly advanced and gabled, square entrance bay in

re-entrant angle also gabled with stair window and

west-facing depressed-arched door; first floor window in left

bay breaks eaves and has gabled dormerhead. Sash windows,

with some lying-panes. Modern addition adjoins east gable.

Corniced stacks; some square flues; all roofed with graded

slates.

Ashlar-coped rubble-built garden wall; playground wall

removed at roadside.
