Description
Carlingwark, located on Main Street in Penpont, is a pair of cottages dating from the earlier 19th century. These two-storey cottages are arranged in a three-bay layout and are set back from the street line, featuring two central doors. The exterior is rendered with ashlar margins, all painted. The cottages have sash windows with 4-pane glazing and a band course between the floors, which may suggest that the upper floor is an addition. Notable architectural features include two piended canted dormers, two skylights, straight skews, and corniced end stacks, with the roof covered in graded slates. The cottages are set behind a low wall made of rubble with ashlar coping.
