Description

This is a two-storey house from the earlier to mid-19th century, located on Main Street in Penpont Village. Originally featuring a shop, the building has four bays, with the entrance door centrally positioned on the three-bay section. The exterior is made of polished red ashlar stone, accented by rusticated quoins, while the ground floor has been painted. The entrance includes a recessed panelled door topped with a rectangular fanlight, all within a pilastered doorcase. The former shop area, now integrated into the house, has sash windows, including one bipartite window, although the shop fascia has been removed, leaving the pilasters intact. The building has sash windows throughout, each with 12-pane glazing. Additional architectural features include an eaves and lintel band, straight skews, and corniced end stacks. The roof is covered with graded slates and has a late 19th-century pink rubble-built rear outshot.
