70, 72, and 74 Victoria Street in Newton Stewart is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that includes a shop on the ground floor. The building features painted squared rubble walling, with painted smooth rusticated ashlar quoins and raised margins.

On the ground floor, there are deeply recessed panelled doors with fanlights in the outer bays. The centre features a three-bay shopfront with an elaborate timber fascia that has pilasters, a dentil cornice, scrolls, pediments, and acroteria. The central door is recessed and flanked by large plate glass windows.

On the first floor, there are three single light sash and case windows with two-pane plate glass glazing. The eaves have a bank and cornice with a blocking course. The ends have stepped skews and corniced end stacks with octagonal cans. The roofs are slate, and there are a pair of piended canted dormers along with a central piended dormer.
