Description

69 and 71 Victoria Street in Newton Stewart has its origins in the mid 18th century, with later alterations made to the ground floor. This building is two stories tall and features five bays, rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, with painted raised margins around the windows.

The central doorway showcases a well-crafted mid 18th century lugged architraved doorpiece, topped with an oversized semi-circular moulded pediment. On either side of the door, there are modern shopfronts with enlarged windows and glazed doors. The first floor has five regularly spaced single light windows, which are deeply set sash and case windows with a two-pane plate glass glazing pattern.

The building is topped with an eaves cornice and has steeply pitched slate roofs, with end skews and skewputts, as well as end coped brick stacks.
