Description
Paramount is a 2-storey, 4-bay house built in 1875, originally featuring a shop on the ground floor. It is part of an irregular terrace and constructed from coursed stugged ashlar with polished dressings, while the rear is finished in painted rubble. The building has base and dividing band courses, with pilasters separating the bays on the ground floor.
On the west elevation, there is a narrow doorway in the outer left bay with a modern boarded door and a plate glass fanlight above. The tripartite shop front includes a central door, which is now blocked and serves as a window, flanked by large windows. Above, there are four regular windows on the first floor.
The east elevation features an advanced pitched-roof wing, likely a former stable, on the outer right side, with a forestair at the gable end and openings along with a box dormer on the south elevation. There are two single windows in the house on the outer left bay.
The ground floor has small-pane casement windows, while the first floor is fitted with 12-pane lying-pane sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has dentilled coping on the brick gablehead stacks at both the north and south ends.
