Rutherford House, High Street, Town Yetholm

Rutherford House is a later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of an irregular terrace. It features stugged ashlar with polished dressings, including a base, dividing band, and eaves courses, as well as raised surrounds to the openings and long and short quoins.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central doorway with a panelled door and a two-pane fanlight above. There is a bracketed three-light oriel window on the first floor above the entrance. The outer bays on the ground floor have bipartite windows, while the first floor features single windows.

The house has six-pane sash and case bipartite windows and four-pane single windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has coped brick stacks at both the north and south ends.

At the rear of the property, there are former stables and a hayloft that appear to predate the house. These are constructed of rubble with remnants of harling and have a pitched grey slate roof. The stable entrance is located below the hayloft, which has a doorway with an opening above it, along with openings on the ground and first floors to the outer right.
