Barrie House, School Road, Coldingham

Barrie House is a later 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements, asymmetrical 2-storey, 3-bay house that is part of a terrace. The exterior features squared and snecked tooled render with painted margins and a base course.

On the southwest (entrance) elevation, there is a timber panelled door to the left with a 2-pane fanlight above it. The ground floor has a single window in the center and a depressed-arch former cart opening to the outer right, which has a 2-leaf, boarded timber door. Each bay on the first floor contains a single window.

The northeast (rear) elevation was not visible in 1999. The house has 8-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with stone-coped skews, and corniced, brick-built ridge and apex stacks with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The property is enclosed by a low, coped, rendered boundary wall at the front, which includes a modern pedestrian gate.
