Description
The Market Cross in The Square, Coldingham, dates from 1815 and is made of cream sandstone. It is a classical market cross featuring a three-stage, stepped circular base beneath a square pedestal that has a splayed base and a moulded cornice. An inscription is located on the north face, while the date is on the east face. The shaft tapers and has a moulded base and capital. At the top, there is a square abacus that supports a circular moulding and a square block with a carved crest on the north face. Additionally, there are sundials on the east, south, and west sides, topped by an urn-shaped finial.
