War Memorial, Coldingham

The War Memorial in Coldingham, built around 1920, is a classically-detailed memorial made of cream sandstone ashlar, dedicated to those who served in the First World War. It features a stepped, square base and a tapering square shaft with blind, triangular-headed panels at the base. Above these, there are inscribed, segmental-arched granite panels on the south and east sides, along with decorative carving on the cornice. The memorial has a squat square shaft above, which includes a dated face on the south side and a carved wreath positioned above in a segmental-arched cap. At the top, there is a square sundial with a metal dial and gnomon still in place on the south side.

Surrounding the memorial is a low, rubble-coped wall that encloses the triangular site at the front, with rectangular gatepiers flanking the entrance and an iron pedestrian gate. The walls at the rear are taller and are partially painted and harled.
