GV II

War memorial. c1920; commemorates 1914-18 war. Ashlar sandstone. Square stylobate of 3 steps. Square pedestal with moulded plinth and corner pilasters which frame blind traceried panels bearing the dedication to, and names of, those lost in the Great War. The pedestal is capped and surmounted by a cushion base to a slender, tapered shaft which becomes hexagonal and terminates in a cross. Stands within roundabout at focus of all routes into the town.
