Description

The war memorial, dating from circa 1920, stands on Fair Green. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, it comprises a short pylon set upon a stepped base featuring a cornice and a low, pyramidal top. The memorial is inscribed with the names of those who fell in the First World War, alongside their regiment, date, and cause of death. A low kerb of small bollards and chains surrounds the memorial. It is unusual for the level of detail provided concerning the fallen. The memorial forms part of a group of historic buildings surrounding Fair Green.
