Description

The Parish Church of St Ethelreda was built in 1860, located to the south of the original church of St John, which now only has its east wall remaining as a ruin. The architect was C.F. Hayward. The church is designed in an Early English style and features a gable facing the street. It is constructed from grey brick, limestone, and clunch, with red brick dressings. The roofs are covered with plain red tiles. Notable features include a bell turret with a copper canopy, a clock set below a three-light window, and a double entrance with two-centred arches separated by a colonette.
