Description

This building, originally a house and now occupied by the Derbyshire Building Society with a flat above, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed sandstone and features a concrete tile roof. The building stands three storeys high and has a three-window range. At each end, there are pilasters that are connected by a sill band on the first floor and an eaves band. The late 20th-century shop front includes double doors to the right of the center and a recessed side doorway on the right. On the first floor, there are 2/2 sash windows set in ashlar surrounds, while the second floor has short 2/2 sashes with projecting stone sills, also in ashlar surrounds. The building is topped with a plain ashlar parapet that has end dies above the pilasters. The interior has not been inspected. This structure contributes to a prominent street frontage in the town center.
