Description
The premises of The Derbyshire Shop and Michael Goldstone in Bakewell are likely from the early 18th century and have been altered over time. The building is constructed from coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The left side has large quoins and an angled wall. Near the center, there are two doorways with timber lintels and an oak beam above; the left door is part-glazed while the right door is boarded and leads to the rear. The first bay has 8/8 horizontally-sliding sash windows with projecting stone sills and painted surrounds. The third bay features a late 18th-century-style bow window with a part-glazed door flanked by 24-pane casements, similar to the window above in the first bay. There is a central oculus with glazing bars and an ashlar surround, resting on a band set below the mid-height of the first-floor windows. Brick stacks are located at the ends of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
