Description

The Market Cross, located in the Market Place, dates back to 1795 and stands on the site of an earlier cross. It is constructed from ham stone and features a circular base with two chamfered offsets, which is set on a circular step. Above this, there is a square stepped plinth that supports a simple Doric column with an entablature moulding. At the top, there is a square-plan block with sundials that have sheet metal gnomons, topped with a ball finial and a wrought-iron windvane.
