Description

London House, also known as The Post Office, is an early 19th-century house and shop located on the west side of Market Place in Ilchester. The building is constructed from roughly cut and squared local lias stone, with a Welsh slate roof of a shallow pitch between stepped coped gables, and brick chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The upper floor features twelve-pane sash windows with plain surrounds and dovetailed stone lintels. The lower bay one contains a six-flush-panel door within a matching door opening. Bay two contains a shop front, likely from the early 20th century, with a central recessed glazed door, and a fascia supported by console brackets with dentil moulding. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
