Description
The Bull Inn is an inn located in the Market Place, with origins dating back to the 18th century or earlier, and a later 19th-century facade. The building features roughcast render, and the east gable appears to have been rebuilt or lined with red brick. It has a plain clay tiled roof with plain gables and brick chimney stacks. The inn is two storeys high and consists of six bays. There is a plinth and sash windows with upper casements divided, set in plain openings; however, there is no window in the lower part of bay 1. In bay 4, there is a 19th-century six-panel door framed by a beaded architrave and topped with a moulded stone hood supported by console brackets. The interior has not been seen. The Bull Inn stands on the site of the former Sun Inn, which operated between 1669 and 1734. The building is included primarily for its group value, although there may be 18th-century work at the rear or inside.
