West Outbuilding, Thatched Cottage, High Streeet, Town Yetholm

The East Outbuilding of Thatched Cottage on High Street in Town Yetholm dates from the mid to late 18th century and has undergone some alterations to its openings. This single storey and attic thatched house, which was formerly two houses, is part of an irregular terrace. It features a concrete base course and raised concrete surrounds around its openings.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a doorway with a thatched gabled canopy that is offset to the right of center, leading to a boarded door. To the left of the doorway, there are three windows, with the one immediately to the left having been a former doorway, and one window to the right of the doorway. The thatch forms hoods over three attic windows, and there is a small attic window to the left of the doorway canopy.

The east (rear) elevation includes two ranges of two-storey rubble and slated outbuildings on two levels that adjoin the house, featuring a projecting stone at the southeast angle of the north range. The building has four-pane sash and case windows, a reed-thatched roof with stitched block-cut ridging, a tall brick chimneystack to the north, and a truncated brick chimneystack to the south.
