Montrose Cottage, High Street, Town Yetholm

Montrose Cottage is a mid to later 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of an irregular terrace. The building is rendered with raised surrounds around the openings and features a concrete base course.

On the west elevation, which faces the entrance, the doorway is offset to the left of centre and has a modern panelled door with a letterbox fanlight above it. There are single windows flanking the doorway at both the ground and first floors.

The east elevation, which is the rear, has a modern conservatory attached to the left at ground level. There is a stair window in the centre and two windows on the first floor.

The cottage has 12-pane sash and case windows facing the High Street and pivot windows at the rear. It has a grey slate roof that shares its roofline with the neighbouring building, Greengarth, and features brick mutual stacks. At the back lane, there is a concrete blockwork wall.
