Description
Frandor, located on Main Street in Town Yetholm, is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that was formerly a shop. It has a lower two-storey carriage house attached at the end of an irregular terrace. The building is constructed from coursed whinstone with contrasting sandstone dressings on the east elevation, while the rear and side are made of rubble whinstone. Notable architectural features include a base course, long and short surrounds to openings, long and short channelled quoins, and a cornice.
On the east elevation, there is a centrally located doorway with a panelled door and a fanlight above it, along with a window on the first floor. To the right of the doorway, there are three windows from the former shop, with the middle window being made from a former doorway. There is a single window on the first floor above this section. The outer left bay features single windows on both floors, and the adjoining carriage house is recessed to the outer right.
The north elevation shows the carriage house advanced at ground level, featuring a segmental-arched carriage arch with a two-leaf boarded door. There is a window on the first floor to the outer right and another window behind it on the first floor of the house to the outer left.
The building has 12-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate piended roof, a corniced wallhead stack to the south, and a coped wallhead stack to the north. The pavement in front is cobbled.
