Description

123-127 Quarry Street in Hamilton is a three-storey, two-bay tenement built in 1875, designed in the Scots Baronial style. The building features stugged and snecked pink sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The ground floor has a cornice, and there is a string course between the first and second floors. The building is accented with wide quoin strips and a corniced wallhead, which is interrupted by a crowstepped gable on the left. There is a canted window that is corbelled to a square on the left side, with a corbelled gable on the right. The first and second floors have a bipartite window on the left and a four-light canted window on the right, both framed with timber sash and case frames featuring plate glass glazing. However, the first floor has uPVC frames that are out of character with the rest of the building, and the windows have stop-chamfered margins. The interior has not been seen.
