Description
This building is a hotel located at 11 Barns Street in Ayr, dating from the later 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a three-bay mirrored pair of houses that are part of a terrace. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar with a rusticated ground floor. Notable features include a vermiculated base course, a dividing band course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first-floor windows have aprons.
On the northern entrance elevation, there are steps leading up to a three-column fluted doorpiece with timber doors and letterbox fanlights. Above this, there are two single windows aligned at the first floor, with flanking bipartite windows at both the ground and first floors.
The ground floor features plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the upper sashes at the first floor have two panes. The roof is covered with grey slate, and it has stone skews, coped stacks, and both circular and polygonal chimney cans.
The interiors were not seen in 1998.
