Description
15 Barns Street in Ayr is a pair of mirrored houses built in the later 19th century, standing two stories tall and featuring three bays. They are part of a terrace and are constructed from polished ashlar stone, with a rusticated ground floor. The design includes a vermiculated base course, a dividing band course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first floor windows have decorative aprons.
On the north elevation, there are steps leading to a three-column fluted doorpiece with timber doors and letterbox fanlights. Above, there are two single windows aligned at the first floor, with bipartite windows flanking both the ground and first floors.
The windows are four-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate and features stone skews, coped stacks, and both circular and polygonal chimney cans.
The interiors were not seen in 1998. The entrance is adorned with spear-headed iron railings.
