Hotel, 64 Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh

This building is a hotel located at 64 Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh, dating from the mid to later 19th century, with some 20th century additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay, symmetrical classical house, featuring a single-storey wing attached to the south and a modern single-storey and attic extension to the north. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked cream sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, including a base course, advanced cills for the first and second floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.

The entrance elevation has a central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, topped by a corbelled corniced doorpiece. There is a single window on the first floor above the doorway, with additional single windows on both floors in the flanking bays. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with coped wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property features low coped boundary walls along the street and a high rubble mutual wall to the north, with no railings. There are pedestrian gates at the north and south sides of the house, which are modern cast iron gates.
