Piers And Pedestrian Gates, 9 Minto Street With Boundary Walls, Edinburgh

This early 19th century building features a 2-storey, 3-bay symmetrical classical house made of cream sandstone ashlar, with rubble sandstone on the sides and rear. It has a blocking course.

On the west entrance elevation, there is a central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, framed by a pilastered and corniced doorpiece. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor, with additional windows in the outer left and right bays. The first-floor windows are adorned with ornate cast-iron window guards featuring anthemion and palmette designs, while the ground floor windows have advanced cills.

The east elevation includes a later extension that adjoins the house. The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roof is grey slate with a piended design, and it has tall, coped wallhead stacks topped with octagonal moulded cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995.

Surrounding the property are low coursed boundary walls along the street with replacement railings. The boundary wall piers are coursed and panelled, and there are pedestrian gates located to the north and south of the house.
