44 Minto Street, Edinburgh

44 Minto Street is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay classical house that underwent extensive remodelling in the late 19th century, incorporating Venetian gothic details. The building is constructed from cream sandstone ashlar, with coursed rubble sandstone on the sides and rear. It features a base course, cill course, and dividing band course, along with a cornice and blocking course. The doorpiece and window pilasters have stylised capitals.

The entrance elevation has a round-arched doorway that is offset to the right of centre, featuring a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, framed by a columned doorpiece. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor. To the outer left, there is a full-height canted window with four round-arched lights, a cornice, and a piended roof. The outer right bay contains a bipartite window with round-arched lights set in a round-arched panel, which has a decorative carved roundel. Above this, there is another bipartite window with basket-arched lights on the first floor.

The windows are plate timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with a truncated wallhead stack on the north side.

The interior was not seen in 1995.

The property includes gatepiers and boundary walls, featuring gabletted piers at the north and south boundary angles, with ball finials on the pedestrian gatepiers. There is a low coped boundary wall along the street and high rubble mutual walls.
