47 Minto Street And Gateway, Edinburgh

47 Minto Street is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay classical house located in Edinburgh. The building is constructed of cream sandstone ashlar with a channelled ground floor on the front elevation, while the rear and sides are made of coursed rubble. It features a base course, a dividing band course, a cill course for the first-floor windows, and a cornice with a blocking course.

The entrance elevation has a broad central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight. It is flanked by engaged Doric columns supporting a corniced doorpiece. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor, with additional windows in the outer bays to the left and right.

On the south elevation, there is a concrete escape stair. The ground floor has plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the first floor features 12-pane windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with tall rendered and coped wallhead stacks and moulded cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995. Additionally, there is a low coped boundary wall to the street and a pedestrian gateway adjacent to the house on the north side.
