Description
48 Minto Street is a classical house built in the earlier 19th century, with some alterations made in the later 19th century. It is a symmetrical, two-storey building with a basement and features a three-bay design. The exterior is made of cream sandstone ashlar and includes a balustraded parapet above the ground floor cornice, which creates balconies for the architraved windows on the first floor. The building has channelled quoins at the first floor and a deep cornice, along with a balustraded parapet that has panelled dies.
On the entrance elevation, there is a central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, framed by a pilastered corniced doorpiece. Above this, there is a single window on the first floor. The ground floor features an advanced tripartite window on the outer left and a three-light canted window on the outer right, with single windows above them.
The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with a wallhead stack located to the north.
The interior was not seen in 1995. The street has replacement railings and gatepiers, along with stylised anthemion railings in the areas.
