50 Minto Street, Edinburgh

50 Minto Street is an early 19th century classical house, with later alterations from the 19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay symmetrical building, featuring single-storey wings on the north and south sides. The house is constructed of cream sandstone ashlar, which is channelled at the ground floor on the main elevation, while the sides and rear are made of coursed rubble sandstone. It has a deep cornice, a balustraded parapet, and a blocking course with a raised centre on the single-storey wings. The windows in the canted sections have architraves.

On the entrance elevation, there is a central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, flanked by Ionic columns supporting a corniced doorpiece. Above the door, there is a single window, and on the outer left and right, there are full-height, three-light canted windows. The windows in the single-storey wings are set in round-arched panels.

The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roof is a grey slate piended design, with coped wallhead stacks that have moulded octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The property features a low coursed boundary wall along the street, with replacement railings, panelled gatepiers, and a low wall and railings to the area.
