14 Minto Street, Edinburgh

14 Minto Street is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay classical house that has undergone later alterations. The building features a near symmetrical design and is constructed from droved cream sandstone ashlar, with rubble on the sides and rear. It has a base course, string course, cill course for the first-floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.

The west entrance elevation showcases engaged Doric columns flanking a recessed, round-arched doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight above. There is a single window on the first floor above the doorway. To the outer left, there is a single window set in a round-arched panel, with another single window above it. The outer right bay features a later 19th century, three-light canted window, with a single window above. A modern, multi-paned door has been added to the former pedestrian gate in the single-storey wing to the south.

The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with a rendered and coped wallhead stack to the south and a corniced stack to the north, topped with tall moulded cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The boundary walls consist of a low coursed and coped wall along the street and to the south, with replacement railings, and a high rubble wall along Blacket Avenue. There is a pedestrian gate next to the house to the north, which has a boarded door.
