Description

35 Minto Street is a pair of classical houses built in the earlier 19th century. They are two stories high and feature six symmetrical bays. The houses are constructed from cream sandstone ashlar, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear. Notable architectural details include a base course, panelled aprons beneath the architraved ground floor windows, a dividing band course, a cill course for the architraved first floor windows, and a cornice with a blocking course that is raised at the center.

On the entrance elevation, there are doorways in the outer bays with panelled doors and plate glass fanlights, supported by Doric columns and corniced doorpieces. Above these doorways, there are single windows on the first floor. The remaining bays also have single windows on both floors.

The north and south elevations feature single central stair windows between the floors. The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roofs are covered with grey slate and have piended designs, along with corniced wallheads and mutual stacks. There are tall single octagonal stacks on the east side.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property has low coped and coursed boundary walls along the street, with replacement railings and original railings on the mutual wall. There is a high concrete boundary wall adjacent to Middleby Street to the south, with a pedestrian gate to the north and a garage to the south.
