1 Minto Street With Boundary Walls, Edinburgh

This early 19th-century house at 1 Minto Street is a two-storey, four-bay classical building with a near symmetrical design and a single-storey wing to the north. It is constructed from lightly stugged cream sandstone ashlar and features a base course, a dividing band course, a cill course for the first-floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.

The entrance elevation faces west and includes a doorway in the third bay, which has a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, supported by Doric columns in a corniced doorpiece. There is a single window above the door, with additional single windows in the other bays and in the single-storey wing.

The windows are timber, sash and case style with plate glass. The roof is covered in grey slate and has a piended shape, with a rendered, coped wallhead stack to the north and a coped mutual stack to the south, along with moulded cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The property is also enclosed by low, coursed and coped boundary walls along the street, which do not have railings, as well as a higher coursed rubble mutual wall.
