Hotel, 6 Minto Street, Edinburgh

This building is a hotel located at 6 Minto Street in Edinburgh, dating from the early 19th century. It is a two-storey, symmetrical, three-bay classical house with single-storey wings on either side. The exterior is made of lightly stugged cream sandstone ashlar and features a base course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course with a raised center. The house and wings have channelled quoins.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a central doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, flanked by Ionic columns supporting a corniced doorpiece. The first floor has a single window above the entrance and in the outer left and right bays, with ground floor windows set in round-arched panels and projecting cills. The single-storey wings have round-arched doorways with boarded doors.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, featuring a corniced wallhead stack to the south, while the north stack is missing.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The property is enclosed by a low coped ashlar boundary wall along the street, with higher coped rubble walls elsewhere.
