Hotel, 10 Mayfield Gardens, Edinburgh

This building is a hotel located at 10 Mayfield Gardens in Edinburgh, dating from around 1870 with some modern additions. It is a two-storey structure with a basement and features three bays, showcasing classical details on a corner site. To the south, there is a modern garage and a restaurant extension attached to the house. The exterior is constructed of cream sandstone squared and snecked rubble, with ashlar dressings. Notable architectural elements include a base course, stop-chamfered reveals, a dividing band course, an eaves course, and a cornice.

On the entrance elevation, there are steps leading to the entrance at the bowed corner on the outer right. The doorway is recessed and features a tripartite, round-arched doorpiece adorned with carved, stylized classical details. Above this, there is a bipartite window on the first floor. The central bay has single windows on all floors, while the outer left bay showcases a full-height, four-light canted window with a polygonal roof.

The north elevation, facing Bright's Crescent, is also three bays wide. It has a central bipartite window at the ground level and a single window above on the first floor. The outer right bay features an advanced, corniced bipartite window, while the outer left bay has single windows on both floors. The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are coped wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall along the street, with replacement railings.
