Salisbury Green Gate Lodge, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh

Salisbury Green Gate Lodge, located on Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh, is a single-storey, three-bay gate lodge built around 1870, likely designed by John Lessels. The building is constructed from cream sandstone ashlar and features Scottish Baronial details, with modern extensions added to the rear.

The south elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central doorway leading to a pedimented porch at the re-entrant angle. The porch includes a panelled door and a blank inscription panel. To the outer right, there is an advanced bay with a crowstepped gable, and a central, roofed, four-light canted window. The deep cornice is adorned with cable moulding, and above it, there is a carved stone finial and a recessed panel with cable moulding. The outer left bay contains a bipartite window.

The windows are made of plate glass and feature timber sash and case designs. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes tall octagonal, corniced wallhead and ridge stacks, along with gabletted skewputts.
