Description
Westgate Lodge, located at Sheriff Hall, is a single-storey, gabled L-plan gate lodge built in the later 19th century. The structure is made of squared and snecked cream sandstone with stugged ashlar dressings, featuring chamfered arrises around the openings.
On the south elevation, there is a three-bay gabled porch that projects at the center and includes a decorative pendant. To the outer right, there is a gabled bay with a single window and a blank panel in the gablehead, while the outer left features a single window.
The east elevation has a raised gabled bay on the left, which contains a lead-roofed canted window. The lodge exhibits a variety of glazing patterns in its sash and case windows, including small-pane, lying pane, modern, and 4-pane styles. The roof is slate, with timber eaves brackets supporting the overhanging eaves. Tall ashlar ridge stacks with moulded coping complete the design.
