Description

18th century. 3-stage circular dovecot. Random rubble,

repaired in brick; ashlar dressings. Formerly harled. Slate

rat course above ground stage, 2nd stage tapering. Round

arched doorway at ground. Later round arched opening inserted

above door with rendered surround. Original 2nd stage opening

opposite, round arched with ashlar surround. Parapet stage

corbelled out and given crenellated appearance by square

flight holes, currently blocked. Shallow slate cone roof.

Simple weathervane. Narrow slit at ground to side, currently

blocked. Boundary wall of steading abutting at rear.

Brick-vaulted ground floor chamber with stone flagging. Upper

chamber brick-lined with some nesting boxes.
