Description
The dovecot at Castlesteads House is likely from the 18th century and underwent significant alterations in the 19th century. It is a single chamber, lean-to structure with an oblong plan. The lower part of the building is made of pink rubble, while yellow rubble is used above the door lintel, featuring ashlar dressings and a rat course. There is a doorway on the south side with a timber lintel and a square panel above the rat course at the center. The other elevations are blank, and there are flight holes located at the center of the roof pitch. The roof has ashlar coped skews and is covered with grey slates. Inside, the dovecot is lined with nesting boxes made of ashlar shelves and brick divisions.
