Description
7 Barns Street in Ayr is a later 19th-century, two-storey and attic house that is part of a terrace. The building features polished ashlar stonework, with a rusticated ground floor. It has a vermiculated base course, a dividing band course, a first-floor cill course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first-floor windows have aprons.
On the north elevation, there are steps leading to a two-column fluted doorpiece with a timber door and a letterbox fanlight. Above the door, there is a single window aligned at the first floor, with additional single windows at both the ground and first floors to the right. To the left, there are bipartite windows at both levels. The attic features bipartite dormers on the outer left and right.
The windows are four-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes a rooflight, stone skews, coped stacks, and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1998. The entrance is adorned with spear-headed iron railings.
