Description
This early 19th-century house at 6 Barns Street in Ayr is a two-storey building with an attic and features four bays, forming part of a terrace. The exterior is finished in painted render and includes an eaves course, cornice, and blocking course. The openings have painted margins, and the ground floor cills are blocked.
On the south (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to two doorpieces with corniced block pediments, located at the outer right and the penultimate bay to the left. The doors are made of timber and feature letterbox fanlights, with the outer right fanlight being leaded. To the left of the doorpieces, there are single windows at ground level, while the first floor has regular fenestration. The attic contains two canted dormers positioned at the outer left and right.
The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are stone skews, coped stacks, and circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
