Description

26 Wellington Square in Ayr is an early 19th century, three-storey, three-bay classical house that has been altered at the ground floor for commercial use. It is part of a terrace and features painted render at the ground floor, while the upper floors are constructed of sandstone rubble. The building includes a base course, a cill course at the first floor, an eaves course, a cornice, a blocking course, and strip quoins and margins. There are cornices above the first-floor windows.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a central double columnar doorpiece with a two-leaf timber door and a letterbox fanlight. Above this, a single window is aligned at both the first and second floors. The flanking bays feature regular fenestration across all floors, with commercial shop windows at the ground floor.

The first and second floors have plate glass timber sash and case windows, and there are rooflights present. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes stone skews, coped stacks, and circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
